1959 Chevrolet El Camino Show Car fresh out of 30+ Years storage offered by Gas Monkey Garage with a Buy It Now price or best offer. This means you can hit the Buy It Now button and own this sweet ride or take your chances and submit you best offer!

When I found this really cool 1st Gen El Camino “Show Car” in storage in the Desert Plains of Texas, I was excited! Stored for over 30 years, it was remarkably well preserved by the dry climate and limited exposure to the elements.

After bringing it back to the shop, we checked the fluids, hooked up a battery and an auxiliary fuel cell (the fuel tank had been removed and there appears to be a good, usable fuel tank included) and started it up for the first time in over 30 years! After adding brake fluid to the reservoir, the brake pedal showed signs of life and this El Camino moved under its own power for the first time in 3 Decades! And while this El Camino will run, it will need to be completely serviced and inspected as you would expect after more than 30 years of non-use before attempting to drive it for the first time to ensure safety and reliability ( due to our filming schedule, we cannot perform any additional work on the El Camino or build it for you).

Modified by the previous owner with custom paint and interior, American Racing wheels and a number of engine compartment improvements including a sweet 3X2 carb setup, long tube exhaust headers, Mallory Electronic Ignition and Chrome Air Horns to name a few. He then installed mirrors on the underside of the hood to show off this work of art!

Exterior photos show an older respray in a custom metallic red color (originally, the car was 2 tone Red & White) that shows well enough with a few minor nicks & chips with a few small bubles behind The trim is mostly complete and in good condition with the rare “California” front bumper, there are minor nicks & dents in some of the trim as shown in the picks, mostly on the top of the bed rails ( see all 100+ pics ).

Interior pics reveal a nice, clean arrangement with a custom, period correct, 2-tone interior that shows well with a floor mounted Hurst shifter and a clean, solid, dash arrangement.

Under hood shots show the attention to detail that was instilled in this car decades ago and reflected through the under hood mirrors.

Underside photos reveal the fairly original chassis with the long tube headers visible along with a set of air shocks in the rear. The floors are solid having been replaced at some time in the past with superficial rust present on most components and some existing rust present in some of the under body components(see all 100+ pics).

While this is a nice, fairly solid example of the iconic 1st Generation 1959 Chevrolet El Camino, it isn't perfect. The fuel system needs attention/repair. Any rubber item is now at least 30 years old( probably more like 40 years). There is a rock chip in the windshield that can probably be repaired (again, see all 100+ pics), the floor pans have been replaced and there is evidence of some body repair presumably before the re-spray.

This iconic 1959 Chevrolet El Camino Project will start and move for loading with a battery & auxiliary fuel cell, however it will need to be towed, trailered or transported from the shop before having the necessary service items addressed (due to our filming schedule, we cannot perform any additional work on this El Camino or build it for you SOLD AS IS/WHERE IS). The winning bidder may have the option of coming to the shop to pick up the El Camino.
If you're looking for a really cool 1959 El Camino Project, you won't find a better example that's priced to sell! This would be perfect for Cruise Night, Advertising and Promotional use or as a kick ass addition to your collection, you decide!
