1991 Chevrolet SWB Silverado LS powered Custom Built by Gas Monkey Garage in just 5 days!

This is the truck we are building in just 5 days as documented by our social media team. If you follow us on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter, you already know about this truck, if you don't it's not too late to follow us and see all the action!

When I found this extremely clean and all original OBS truck with only 34,192 original miles, I knew right away it was something special and I acted quickly to secure it for this build.

The challenge was simple, create a Kick Ass, one of a kind build in only 5 days and the Monkeys, not afraid any challenge, jumped into action!

30SEP19, Day 1: The Teardown.
We began with the tear down of the Truck, the cab, bed & chassis were separated to begin the process. With the truck reduced to its simplest form, a complete chassis restoration was underway.
After completely stripping the frame, it was painted and prepped to receive a C-notch in the rear to get everything nice and low. Ridetech Suspension Coil over components were utilized to insure a straight forward installation with their unique 3 bar wishbone setup out back that allows full articulator while providing maximum control. Directional Control is provided by an AGR Quick Ratio Steering Box.

To power this badass truck, we went to Texas Speed & Performance for one of their built 454cid LS based V8's cranking out 675 HP on the dyno while delivering smooth and reliable performance, the choice was easy. Custom Magnaflow exhaust delivers a smooth, throaty note and a serpentine belt drive from All-American Billet keeps all the ancillary components turning smoothly. Connecting the new LS was a breeze with a wiring harness from PSI & Motor Mounts from Dirty Dingo. To keep things cool, we went to our good friend Ron Davis for one of his Aluminum Radiators. Power is transmitted through a 3200 RPM stall speed Yank Torque Convertor to a GM Performance 4L85E Transmission with a 3.73:1 Yukon Gear & Axle rear end and a Posi-trac limited slip differential.

To get all this power to the ground a set of custom Budnik 20” alloy rims wrapped in Nitto NT 555's 245/40's up front & 275/35's in the rear. And when it's time to slow your roll,Massive 16” 6 piston Wilwood Brakes with Little Shop MFG adapters keep everything in check. And if you're going to burn rubber, you're going to have to burn some fuel too so Aeromotive supplied us with one of their new direct fit fuel cells made specifically for the OBS Trucks.
With the Cab & Bed off of the chassis, it was the perfect time to refresh the finish so a beautiful coat of paint in the original factory GM W9086 Gray Blue was applied and buffed to a mirror shine. A few upgrades such as a Billet grill, upgraded lights, LED Tail Lights and a molded rear roll pan create an unmistakable look.

To keep on track with the 5-day timeframe, we went back with most of the flawless interior, electing to upgrade the instruments with a Dakota Digital Gauge Cluster and a sweet Budnik Steering Wheel. With a Retro Sound Bluetooth system this is one Bad Ass Truck!

04OCT19, Day 5: Mission Accomplished!
The Monkey did what we do best, building Kick Ass Customs and taking names, and as you know “Cheap Ain't Bad Ass & Bad Ass Ain't Cheap”!
