1964 Studebaker Commander Wagonaire Project offered by Gas Monkey Garage!

How cool is this? An extremely original and untouched example of one of Americans more unique designs, perhaps the first true SUV predating the GMC Envoy's sliding roof by nearly 40 years it was found in the desert southwest where it survives for more than 50 years. The sun has baked the original finish to produce this killer patina that would look great preserved with a clear coat or would make for an easy prep for paint if you decide.

The exterior is in remarkable condition having survived with just a few dents (see all 100- pics) and retaining most of the original trim. All of the glass is in good shape and operational as are the doors and tailgate. The “Wagonaire” roof slides easily as well. The hood latch however, is not operational, therefore there are no pics of the engine or drive train so assume there is not one (there is an engine present, however the condition or completeness is unknown).

The interior appears mostly complete however, the beauty of the desert climate extends only to preservation of metal, not so much to upholstery and most interior materials. While mostly complete, it will need complete restoration. The good news here is that being mostly complete, it will serve as a template for restoration of key components such as the seats and door panels.

Underside photos reveal a fairly solid and complete chassis with superficial rust present on most components ( again, sell pics).

This kick ass 1964 Studebaker Commander Wagonaire hasn't run in decades and will need complete restoration therefore it is sold as a non-running project and we cannot perform any additional work on this Wagon or build it for you (SOLD AS IS/WHERE IS). The winning bidder may have the option of coming to the shop to pick up the Wagon and Hang out!
If you're looking for a really cool Station wagon from the 60's you won't find a better example that's priced to sell! This would be perfect for Cruise Night, Advertising and Promotional use or as a kick ass addition to your collection, you decide!
